Some Info about JUSTINE:

Where and when were you born?
9/17/66

What is your profession?
Personal trainer

Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
Yes, I grew up in a very active family and even my grandmother was involved. My aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother swam, ice skated, went horseback riding, played ice hockey, rode snowmobiles, went tobogganing, downhill skied…I weight-trained on and off since high school but got more serious when I was a professional mascot and wanted to be able to carry around the 30-40 lb costumes with relative ease LOL!!!!!

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
No, it wasn’t my original goal to compete. I saw the progress in my physique and that sparked some interest and then my husband took me to the 2003 GNC Show of Strength and there I met Betty Pariso, Cathy LeFrancois, Lee Haney and then I was hooked!

Can you give me your competition history?
I have competed in two power lifting meets too, but as far as bodybuilding: 2007 NPC JR Nationals-3rd place lhw, 2006 NPC East Coast Classic-1st place mw & overall, 2006 NPC Delaware State-1st place mw & overall.

Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
…hmmm, I guess anytime you take the overall I guess that’s the ultimate, but competing at a national level is more difficult so the 3rd at Jr Nats was still special to me as well.

Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
My training varies depending on whether I’m prepping for a contest or I’m in the offseason. I weight train 4-5 days/week in the offseason and do no cardio. Pre-contest I weight train 5 days/week and do cardio up to 6 days/week.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
I like all delt work; although, I’ve had to scale back on that to keep them under control LOL and focus on bringing up the quads…which brings me to my least favorite which is probably back squats…UGH…do I see a correlation LOL!?!?!?!?!

Which body part is your best in your opinion?
Delts definitely!

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?
My best deadlift was in a meet and it was a 335; although, I’ve eased up on the dead lifting due to hip issues. I have congenital hip dysplasia. My best bench press in competition was a 205; although, I’ve gotten 225 in the gym. I think my best military press is a 155. As far as measurements, I don’t really know…jeez, I’m gonna have to tape my bi’s the next time I’m in the gym w/a pump LOL!!!!

What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
I like actually being able to see my abs LOL and I enjoy the feeling of being leaner. Offseason I enjoy EATING!!!!!

Please describe a typical day in the life of Justine Dohring.
Not sure if any day is “typical” but I normally get up around 6 am and get to the gym by 7 am and my husband and I train together. Around 8:30 I start training clients and am normally out of the gym by noon. I also am a limo driver and some days have runs in the afternoons and/or evenings. I’m normally in bed between 9-9:30 pm.

Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
I enjoy reading and spending time with friends, but my favorite thing if it’s offseason is watching a good movie w/my hubbie while eating pizza and wings!!!!!!

What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
I enjoy having goals and watching my body transform to reach them and I really enjoy helping others do the same.

Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear.
I used to be a professional mascot and also once ate 41 of the hottest hot wings in one sitting and was the only woman to be listed on the restaurants “Wall of Flame” LOL!!!!!

What are your competition goals or personal future goals?
I plan to return to Jr Nationals next year (2008) and hope to better my 3rd place in lhw and eventually I’d like to place in the top five of my weight class at Nationals.

Please note:

Justine does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!!
