Some Info about RAHEL:

Where and when were you born?
30 November 1974, Basel, Switzerland

What is your profession?
Personal trainer, nutritionist.

What kind of activities/sports did you do before you started lifting weights?
I was into dance: ballet, jazz dance, musicals, rock’n’roll, modern dance and aerobics.

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights?
I started lifting weights at 18 years old; after I saw a Miss Fitness competition in TV, I liked it so much that the following day I was already in the gym. That was a really great inspiration for me, to discover that I could literally shape my body to be muscular like that.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
In the beginning I wanted just to stay fit and toned, but the more muscles I acquired, the more I wanted to have.

What was your first competition and how did you place?
My first competition was in 1998, it was in fitness category, qualifications for worldchampionship in IFBB and I placed second. 2 weeks later I was competing in the IFBB Worldchampionship, that was my second competition, and I have placed 13 out of 25 competitors.

And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet?
IFBB World Championships 2008, heavyweight class, 2nd place

Please describe a typical day in the life of Rahel Ruch.
My days are more or less the same, due to the fact that my proffesion keeps me very busy all the time. I wake up, do my cardio, take my breakfast then I go to work, I make my training, I work again meeting all the time my clients for training, then I go home, eat and sleep and start all over again. Due to the fact I am always in the middle of different people that I work with and train, my job is not boring and I really love it.

Please tell me something about your daily training routine.
I work out 5 times /week with weights and also cardio and choreography and dancing, 3 times per week when I get ready for a contest, in offseason I do less cardio. My workout has very high intensity.

What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season?
The only differences from offseason to contest prep are diet and less cardio.

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?
Height: 160 cm
Offseason weight: 75 kilos
Contest shape: 65kilos
Biceps: 37 cm
Legs: 58 cm
Calves: 39 cm
Back: 108cm
Bench press incline 70 kilos
Squats 120 kilos
Legg press 240 kilos
Biceps curl 20 kilos dumbells

Which bodypart is your best in your opinion?
I think my glutes.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
I like all that works out my shoulders and triceps and I dislike all exercises that work my legs, especially dead lifts.

Judging in Women’s Bodybuilding has always been criticised in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today’s judging in Women’s Bodybuilding.
What I can criticize about today’s judging is that, as an athlete, you can never know what crtiteria the judges follow, because they always change: hardness, femininity, softness, and so on.

Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don’t work out.
I go out shopping, spend some quality time with my friends, having a drink or just taking a walk.

What are your future plans?
2011 repeating the NY Pro.

Please note:

Rahel does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!!
