Where and when were you born?
I was born the 17th of April 1979 in a little village called Dinxperlo, it is in the east of Holland. I live now in The Hague, in the west of Holland.
What is your profession?
Personal trainer, professional bodybuilder
Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
I did a lot of sports when I was younger, playde soccer for 16 years, played tennis, schwimming and horse back riding. I strated lifting weights when i was 16 years old, because I went into the army. I had good genetics and had a good muscle devolopment, so i never stopped.
Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
I was fascinated by muscles since i was a little kid, it was a dream to get myself a body i saw in the magazines and when i started and saw i had good results i knew i would get there my own.

Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
The universe I think.... because i had a bad time therefor, lost my father, operation in my throat and a motoraccident. My leg was terrible, no sensitivity for more then a year. The accident was in May 2006 and even with the leg and the things. I just said I made it to do the universe in October 2006 and became runner up. I was very proud of myself showing the strenght I have in and outside. Also the competition in 2007 have a big meaning, they bring me to my pro card whih I now have.
Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
Off season I train 5 days a week, short and heavy.
Cardio I do off season 2 or 3 times for 30 minutes.
Preparing I train 6 days, twice a day and much more cardio.
What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
I love them all...
Which body part is your best in your opinion?
Back I think or maybe chest or biceps, lol....
If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?
Right now i am 185 pounds by 5,4 (165cm)
Bench press: 244 pounds (15 till 20 reps)
Squats: 385 pounds (10 reps)
What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
Off season i like being strong in the gym and have a lot energy, preparing i love the way my body changes and how it reacts on everything and off course, seing all the definitions coming.
Please describe a typical day in the life of Saskia Salemink.
Getting up about 8am,making breakfast and always need some coffee then go for an hour walk with my dog, take a shower and make my food ready for the day. Go off to the gym, train and then give personal training. When I am back i do a little nap, answering emails and finish my day with webcam
Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out ( hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
I love to ride my motorbike, a kawasaki ninja, its another passion i have or i go to the beach with my dog, its makes me easy inside... the sound and the smell of the say, love it.
What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
