Welcome to the Page of the gorgeous, very beautiful and muscular Canadian Professional Bodybuilder ATHENA SIGANAKIS! (all pictures are used by Athena's permission) Some Info about ATHENA: Where and when were you born? August 30, 1970 Montreal, Quebec What is your profession? Currently work in a warehouse Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training? I was a Rhythmic gymnast for most of my teens years. I started weight training at 21 as a way to keep in shape. Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? Competetion hadn't even crossed my mind. It took some convincing from people who had competed before and believed I had potential. Can you give me your competition history? Not sure if I remember the years correctly but... Gold's Classic, Victoria, B.C. 1994 - 2nd (middleweight) 1994 BC Provincials - 2nd (middleweight) 1995 BC Provincials - 4th ( heavyweight) 2007 Northern Classic - 1st and Overall (heavyweight) 2007 BC Provincials - 1st and Overall (heavyweight) 2008 Canadian Nationals - 1st Heavyweight & Overall (Pro card) Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you? Right now it has to be this years Provincials. I wanted to prove to myself that I was a good bodybuilder and still had the potential after all this time to take this somewhere. Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.) Offseason: Arms/calves Chest Back Off Shoulders/Hams Legs Off Cardio at least 3 times a week for 30mins. Precontest training gets bumped to 6 days a week. Hamstrings get their own day. Cardio may get up to 2hrs a day depending on how things are looking. What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? Don't really have a fav exercise but I would have to say lunges are in the 'not so much' category. Which body part is your best in your opinion? Legs If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? I have never kept track of best lifts. As long as I am growing I'm happy. I always train heavy though. That means right up til contest day. Bis - 14 3/4 Chest - 38 Quads- 25 Calves - 16 1/2 What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'? I love seeing my body change. It was particularly exciting this year because I had not done a show in so long that I had no idea what I looked like under all the fat. Everyday brought something new! As for offseason...the eating of course! Please describe a typical day in the life of Athena Siganakis. Up at 5am to eat and get food ready for the day. Work, come home and then off to the gym with my fiance and training partner/coach Andy. Come home, have dinner, maybe work online, 30 mins of cardio and then bed. Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out ( hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.) We love to go out for sushi! Spend time with our chihuahua children, read, bake, watch movies. What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle? It keeps me out of trouble and keeps me healthy. It has also strengthened my relationship. If we can get through contest prep we can get through anything! Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear. I'm a witch What are your competition goals or personal future goals? Future personal goal is to get certified as a Sports Nutrionist. Competition goal is to get my Pro card sooner than later. 2008 would be nice :) Please note: Athena does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind.
