Some Info about DREXEL:

Where and when were you born? Philadelphia, PA- Sept 23rd, 1972

What is your profession? MS PE Teacher/coach.

What kind of activities/sports did you do before you started lifting weights? I ran track for 15 yrs back in NJ and for the University of Houston.

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights? after taking a year off and doing the body for life workouts. I liked the results. I saw pics of FBB in the local community center's weight room (where I was working out) @ Fonde Rec Center in Houston, Tx. I keep thinking I can do this I just need to know what to eat...so i went to the bookstore and got all the fitness and BB mags. Then realized these diets are for the people in the articles. So I went online to see what info I could come up for Tx bodybuilding. I cam across Prince Harrison's Optimum Fitness a consultant and promoter out of Dallas, TX. After he answered all my questions he gave me the name of a lady who runs the backstage @ his shows, Marti Reeder. Spoke w/ her and she gave me a name for a trainer- Jason Bard, who is a national ranked BB. I met w/ him in April of 2003 and the rest is history. Jason and his wife Kristin Bard, an upcoming figure competitor have helped me accomplish a lot in the last 3 yrs and I look forward to accomplishing more in the near future.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? Yes, it was a goal to compete from the beginning and it was to see what level my body can compete on.

What was your first competition and how did you place? 2004 NPC Central Texas Cup and I WON as a heavyweight!!!

And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet? Despite my 9th place finish out of 9 females @ NPC 2005 Jr. nationals...I looked the BEST out of the other 2 shows I did.

Could you please add a history of all contests that you have entered so far? 2004 NPC Central Texas Cup 1st place heavyweight, 2004 NPC John Sherman Classic 2nd place light heavyweight and NPC Jr. Nationals Competitor in the ligh heavyweight class.

Please describe a typical day in the life of Drexel Long. I try and wake up @ 6 am and leave for school by 7 am...but that never works...smile. I teach 4 classes (3 PE and 1 athletics class). I eat during every class...I am @ school til 6:00 pm for athletics. Depending on what day it is I go to the gym and train. Once I get home, I eat, check emails and chat online. Bed by 12 midnight and start all over again.

Please tell me something about your daily training routine. Mondays- off, Tuesdays - leg day (not a good day w/trainer)...smile),Wednesdays/Thursdays- chest and back, Fridays- arms w/ trainer,Saturdays/Sundays- shouldersm hamstrings and calves.

How often do you train in a week? I train 4 days/week off season...everyday for show prep.

What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season? The main difference when I train for a comp and off season is the diet and training. Diet isnt as strict and training isnt as much during off season.

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?

leg press 600lbs, smith squats 315 lbs, squats 275 lbs, bench 155lbs, deadlifts 225 lbs- shoulders 43 in., chest 34 in., waist 29 in., biceps/triceps 14 in., calves 14 in.

Which bodypart is your best in your opinion? Its a tie- arms, back and shoulders.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? I luv anything for my arms and back..I HATE LUNGES w/ weights and cardio.

Judging in Women’s Bodybuilding has always been criticised in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today’s judging in Women’s Bodybuilding. The judging NEEDS to be consistent. The woman w/ the BEST total pacakge representing beauty and muscles should win.

Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don’t work out (profession, hobbies, etc.) Watching lifetime or chatting online.

What are your future plans for 2006? Competing in ALL NATURAL comp next yr... NGA Southern States April 29th, Tx Shredder May 5-6th, Musclemania Superbody June 1-2nd. Photo shoots w/ some TOP photographer...getting a website.

Please note:

Drexel does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!
