Some Info about ILKNUR:

Where and when were you born?
I was born in Istanbul, Turkey in December 1981.

What is your profession?
I have a degree in Physical Education.

Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
I was pretty athletic as a kid but I wasn’t actually involved in anything to be part of a school team etc. which most of the schools lacked anyway. I started attending the Istanbul University in 1999, majoring in American Culture and Literature. Around the same time, I started working out at a local gym in the hope of getting in shape and losing a few pounds, only to discover my real passion; “Bodybuilding”. As with most female bodybuilders, who fall upon bodybuilding “accidentally”, I couldn’t deny the way my body responded. And of course, I fell in love with the challenge and the discipline it took to get through the workouts.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
It wasn’t a goal from the beginning. But I really liked the idea and wanted to give it a shot as I saw more progress. I was also encouraged by other people as well.

Can you give me your competition history?
Turkish Championships (Qualifier for the Balkan Championships) Lightweight - 1st Place
Turkish Championships (Qualifier for the European Championships) Lightweight - 1st Place
Balkan Championships Lightweight - 1st Place
European Championships Lightweight -12th Place
NPC Total Package Open and Natural, Lightweight 1st Place and Overall

Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
Balkan Championships; NPC Total Package.

Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
I train four times a week in the off season. My training split is mostly like:
Monday: Chest-Shoulders
Tuesday: Legs
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday: Back
Friday: Biceps& Triceps
Saturday: OFF
Sunday: OFF
I do abs and calves as I feel like it. My off-season cardio changes from 30-45 minutes, 3-4 times a week.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
My favorite exercise is rack pulls. I don’t like doing lunges but they are an absolute necessary evil.

Which body part is your best in your opinion?
Most people say it’s my back but in my opinion, it’s my delts.

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?
I simply don’t keep track of my lifts. If I’m training with my trainer, most of the time I don’t even know how much I lift. He’s the one who loads up all the plates. I rely on the intensity rather than the weight.

What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
I definitely enjoy the discipline and the work ethic to train for competition. I love being strong in the off season.

Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
I love music. I play some guitar and drums. I really enjoy spending time with my dogs. And I’m an avid collector of all sorts of things.

What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
The self-discipline and training.

Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear.
I refuse to grow up. I still buy toys and action figures…lol

What are your competition goals or personal future goals?
My goal is to better myself both as a person and a bodybuilder and hopefully, to do more contests.

Please note:

Ilknur does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!!
