Some Info about DAWN:

Where and when were you born?
SOUTHERN CA. OCTOBER 19. I AM A LIBRA!

What is your profession, or other career choice?
I am a Licensed Staff Insurance Agent, Personal Trainer, NPC National Level Bodybuilder, Physique Model

What kind of sports did you do before you started lifting weights?
Cheerleading, Softball, Cross Country, Track & Field, Dance, and Equestrian Riding. I also was a substitute aerobics instructor. I always enjoyed staying active and enjoyed sports. I was always involved in something. My parents were awesome and so supportive. I always used to say, “I am a participant as well as a fan!"

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights?
In High School, my senior yr. the school decided to have a Weight Training class so a flier was circulated around needing signatures of those who wanted to participate so, I signed. Our meeting place was a gym built outside...much like that of the gym in Venice Beach, Ca. I was so excited because I had followed and admired the sport of bodybuilding for many years. I loved going to the gym and working out and of course still do. My parents and family were very supportive. We are very close. And being of Italian Sicilian decent, my family is very loving, and caring.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
Yes, as my body made progression, results were immediate and so did my desire to compete. In the past 8 yrs, I have met many of those who have encouraged and inspired me as well. Telling me that I have great genetics and great potential and to go for it…You Can Do It!! I have always loved the sport with a passion from being inspired by Cory Everson, Gladys Portuguese, Rachel McLish, Diana Dennis, Sue Price, Lenda Murray and as for the male side, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Samir Bannout, Ed Corney, Frank Zane, Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone…the desire to compete was in my heart. “I Can Do This!” I love the excitement of it all, my journey through it all, the awesome people that I have met other athlete’s, the special friends I have made, my awesome fans and of course my accomplishments I have achieved and of course the photo shoots which I truly enjoy. I do not do this for the sake of just getting a title or trophy…it is so much more than that. Of course if I make the most of it, be the best that I can be and do my homework, I know, and we all know that I will be deserving of a title and/or trophy. That as always would be awesome. And my hard work paid off and I made the most of myself, proud of myself and feel good at the same time. And most important making it fun and having good sportsmanship!

Please describe a typical day in the life of Dawn Principe.

My day starts at 6am, when I awake; I thank God for a new day and I take a moment to appreciate many of my blessings. I kiss and hug my cat Basia and my other pets I may haveJ. I stretch; I drink a tall glass of water and then drink a very strong cup of coffee and head to the gym for 1 hour of cardio. After that I am home to prepare for my long 8 hour stretch at work. After 8hrs has ended its home to relax a bit, check emails and cuddle with my cat Basia for a short power nap and to re-energize myself for my 2nd workout of the day. Yes, back to the gym…I Love it! I am usually home by 10:30p-11p (pst) and in bed by midnight. This all can change from time to time and according to my schedule of the day or how I feel.

Please tell me something about your training routine and what are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season?
I am extremely focused and I have a passion to train hard. Someone very special and dear to me would always say, “Train like a Bodybuilder” My training varies according to my mood. I may mix up straight sets, w/high reps or low, I may do negatives and drop sets, and superset them with jumping on the bike for a 3 min. sprint followed by a low rep, heavy set etc… using dumbbells, barbells and/or machines. So you see there is no set routine. I train this way year round. During contest prep, the difference is that I am doing the same thing with less food intake and more cardio. And my food intake is right and clean!

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)

Bench Press 150-160# 3x7-10reps, Leg Press 400# 5x17-20reps, Leg Press 700# 5x1-4reps, Squats 400# 3x7-10reps. Physical Stats: Height 5'2", Chest 36, Biceps 14, Quads 22, Calves 15, Waist 22-24. Weight: 130-140lbs(off-season), 118-124lbs.(competition weight). This can vary.

Which body part is your best in your opinion?
Total Package

Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don’t work out (other interest, hobbies)
I do enjoy my quiet time at home with my cat Basia and my other wonderful pets, spending quality time with a significant other/partner for life. J My other interests are staying positive, eating healthy, staying fit, watching a movie at home or out. Collecting painted ponies, muscle figures/statues, Elvis, different cultures, surfing the net, reading for leisure/knowledge, listening to music, dancing, traveling, I enjoy outside activity, shopping, spending time with family and friends. I like fast cars, motorcycles, extreme sports/competitive sports, UFC/WWE and my all time favorite pastime is going to NASCAR, Motocross, and horse race events when they come to my town. I enjoy helping people when in need and helping animals. I have a passion and deep love for animals. I am also very active with the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, and The Humane Society, Defenders of Wildlife, and other organizations in their efforts of protecting and keeping animals cruelty free. Now, I cannot spoil it all…to know more about the other interests/hobbies of mine and more about me please do not hesitate to ask or just check out my soon to be launched site.

Judging in Women’s Bodybuilding has always been criticised in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today’s judging in Women’s Bodybuilding
needing more appreciation, acceptance of all body types in the sport and contests. We need more consistencies in the judging criteria. Mean what you say and say what you mean and make it concrete or another way of putting it is appreciate the art of our sport and the beauty of it all without judgment and we will come to respect the physiques and forget the opinions of a select few. This is what made bodybuilding great, the fact we are all different yet so much alike! We need less judging and more appreciation. Myself I am inspired by people who have overcome the odds against them. Real people making a difference in the real world pushes, drives, motivates and inspires me to be the best I can be as an athlete, individual and a friend!

What are your future plans?
I remind myself that I am in the sport I love with (a passion) for "self improvement" The sky is the limit. Acknowledging the fact that I am not here to please the select judges but to please myself by reaching my own personal goals. To make a difference. Each time when I have competed, I only get better. To continue to give my all and to be the best I can be and inspire to be better and desire to be the Best!

A special and grateful Thank You and warm love and much appreciation to all my family, friends and fans that have supported me and continue to do so throughout my journey. "Champions do not look at what they are going through, but look at what they are going to do.”

XOXOXOX Love and Muscles!
