Where and when were you born? January 13 in Dallas, Texas What is your profession? Registered Nurse Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to figure and how did you get started with weight training? I have always been somewhat athletic and enjoy many activities, but have always admired toned, muscular people. I started weight training about 10 years ago, but didn't get serious about it until 5 years ago. Was it a goal for you to compete in figure competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? I didn't start weight training with the intention of competing. My desire to compete came when the 'figure' category was created. I knew I could do that as opposed to 'fitness' where a routine is required. Can you give me your competition history? 2002 NPC Vitacube Natural Colorado Open Bodybuilding,Fitness, and Figure Championships- 2nd place 2004 NPC Heart of Texas- 5th place in Masters, 6th place in Open 2005 NPC Lone Star-6th place in Masters, 7th place in Open 2006 NPC Ronnie Coleman Classic-6th place in Open, 7th place in Masters 2006 NPC Central Classic-2nd place in Open, 2nd place in Masters Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you? I would say the last contest has meant the most because I really wanted to qualify for Nationals this year and I did by placing 2nd at the Central Classic. Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.) I weight train 4 days/week with a body split as follows: Day 1-Chest,shoulders Day 2-Back,abs Day 3-Arms,shoulders Day 4-Legs,abs Off season, I do cardio 4 days/week for 40-45 mins. On-season, I increase that to 6 days/week for 45-60mins What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? I like working triceps, shoulders and calves, but absolutely hate leg day. It just kills me sometimes. Which body part is your best in your opinion? My calves- I get many compliments on them. Fortunately, I get them genetically and don't have to work them much. If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? My measurements are 40-26-35 on competition day. Best lifts for a one rep max were 365lbs on a squat on the Smith machine, and 315lbs on a deadlift off a rack. What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'? I enjoy shooting for a goal and achieving it. Plus, getting in shape is a great goal to strive towards, especially during the summer months when most competitions are taking place. Being bikini ready all summer long is great! Of course, for off-season, I enjoy being able to cheat here and there, although I try to eat pretty healthy even during the off-season. Please describe a typical day in the life of Kim Glover. On days that I work, I get up at 5:30am and work from 7am-7pm. If I'm getting ready for a show, I go do my cardio after work. On my off days, I usually go to the gym first thing in the morning so I can get my workout done for the day. I'm usually at the gym for 2.5 hours between doing my weights and cardio. Then, for the rest of the day, I usually have plenty to do- grocery shopping, cooking, running errands, etc... I don't sit still for long. Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out ( hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.) I love going out to eat on occasion, although usually I cook all my own food at home. Meeting up with friends at times, or going to movies are always fun. I love to travel too, and have done a lot of that. And spending time with my boyfriend is important to me. What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle? I love the way living a healthy lifestyle makes me look and feel. I tell my friends often when they tease me for always eating so healthy that 'nothing tastes as good and being in shape feels'. That usually shuts them up. Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear. I'm really a tomboy at heart. I love the outdoors and am not bothered by snakes, mice or spiders- however, roaches freak me out for some reason. What are your competition goals or personal future goals? I plan to do some National level shows now and see how they go. I just take one show at a time. Please note: Kim does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask! |
