Hi my name is Marnie Power, I was born Dec/22/1970 in Burnaby BC, though my heritage is Dutch. I have two older brothers. We were raised solely by my Mother, in Courtney, BC, a beautiful little town. I started working out at age 15. I was introduced to bodybuilding by my boyfriend at the time. I achieved awesome results very fast, and was seriously bit by the bodybuilding bug!! My love for the sport has only grown stronger over the coming years. I just loved to lift the weight and had been training for 10 years before I seriously considered competition. I did three shows in my first year qualifying me for the Nationals. After my first competition I knew I belonged on the stage. I felt I had to win every show I entered, so when I was placed 4th at the Nationals in 2001 it was an enormous blow to my ego. I now know that sometimes you need to loose, and I only came back stronger for it in the following year, where I was placed first as well as overall champion at the Nationals in 2002. I always knew deep inside I would turn pro. I just didn't think it would happen so fast. I was prepared to be stuck at the National level for a few years at least. I dont have time for other hobbies, though I enjoy reading and swimming in the summer, I put all my time and money into bettering myself as a bodybuilder. I am single and have no children, although I would one day like to be married and have a child. I feel so honored to have my pro status. It is truly a dream come true. My future plans over the next couple years will be to qualify for the Miss Olympia. I am a personal trainer/nutritional consultant, and I also help people with pre contest preparation. Although I am a very physical person, I also have a spiritual outlook on life, and I am fully aware that I am not my body. I love to laugh and have fun and spend time with family when I can. I tend to keep to myself allot and just keep a few close friends. My main support comes from my Mother and training partner Don, the two of them have been my backing during contest preparation. I presently am residing on Vancouver Island where I live with my cat Joey. Although I hope to move to LA in the near future. My contest history.... 2001 Muscle Rock - 1st place heavy weight 2001 BC Provincials - 1st place heavy weight 2001 Canadian Nationals - 4th place heavy weight 2002 Canadian Nationals - 1st place and overall heavyweight My off season weight is around 165-170pds my contest weight is 148-150 pds. MY PRO BODYBUILDING CARRER WAS PUT ON HOLD TWO YEARS DUE TO SURGERIES, FOR THAT I LOST THE YEAR 2003 AND 2004, BUT I AM MAKING A STRONG COMEBACK, AND DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO BE BETTER THAN EVER. I WILL BE MAKEING MY PRO DEBUT IN THE NEW YEAR AND HOPE TO QUALIFY FOR THE OLYMPIA IN 2006. MY PRESENT WEIGHT IS A HARD 174, BUT AS ALLWAYS I AM WORKING TO BE BIGGER ! "YES" I AM BACK! |
